Circle Time Celebrations: Sharing Smiles and Stories

For 28 years,  The Child’s World – A Growing Center has been one of the few schools in the Philippines having an extensive and innovative program for Special Children.

TCW is currently serving 80 special children with autism, mental retardation, down syndrome, ADHD, celebral palsy and other mental disabilities. Our internationally acclaimed program subscribes to the Delecato method of sensory-motor development.

TCW is currently serving 80 special children with autism, mental retardation, down syndrome, ADHD, celebral palsy and other mental disabilities. Our internationally acclaimed program subscribes to the Delecato method of sensory-motor development.

It was founded on the vision to offer educational options for families of special children from lower- and middle-income households. Thus, the school’s directress’ home became the TCW’s school premises in 1982.

Our special education program caters for children and adults with special needs.

TCW’s multi-level SPED program is designed based on each child’s level of functionality.

Special Children are academically promoted from levels A-G.

TCW believes that each special child is unique, with talents and capabilities to be developed. And indeed in TCW, each special child is differently-abled.

Our staff consists of teachers and specialists with diverse educational backgrounds and experiences. TCW is capable to set up on-site or off-site supplemental and clinical services, particularly in the areas of Speech therapy, Occupational therapy, Behavioral and Emotional therapy, trauma therapy and other therapies for developmental delays. A CranIosacral therapist is also available.

TCW had invested heavily in school and therapy facilities. It has cheery classrooms, secured activity areas where children can play and interact with others, sand boxes, gym equipment, monkey bars, and an impressive library.

The Early Intervention Program is designed for young children from 2 ½ years old, children are individually evaluated. Based on the evaluation, individualized instruction and group-therapy are implemented. The Middle Childhood Education and Transition Programs are SPED programs which are duly recognized by the Department of Education.

We also have the Vocational Preparation Program to train young adults to be functional and productive members of society. Life skills training includes dressing and grooming, housekeeping and home arts; livelihood training. There is a virgin coconut oil production team and a fabric softener repackaging team.

Last year TCW has opened Une Residence Plus Que Suffisante a residential program for adults with special educational needs. The curriculum was designed to provide adolescents and adults with special needs who reside in a community residence a means through which they can strive towards increased competence and independence in critical areas. The curriculum is a result of twenty eight years of direct service to adolescents and adults with autism, although the specific programs and teaching strategies can be applied to other disability groups.

To be able to continue the operations of TCW-AGC, we need help.
